Services

Chiropractic care is a natural, drug-free approach to promoting health and wellness. Chiropractors focus on diagnosing, treating and preventing musculoskeletal disorders, particularly those related to the spine, joints, and nervous system. Many chiropractic clinics offer a wide range of services designed to help patients recover from injuries, relieve pain, and maintain overall health.

Chiropractic Adjustment

A chiropractic adjustment is a technique where your chiropractor will use their hands to apply a controlled force to the spine or joint to correct misalignments and restore function. Misalignments may interfere with the nervous system, leading to pain, stiffness and other symptoms. Spinal adjustments aim to restore proper alignment, reduce nerve irritation, and improve the body’s overall function.

Adjustments may be performed manually, or with the specialized instruments such as the drop table or adjusting instruments, depending on the patient’s needs and preferences.

Soft Tissue Therapy

The chiropractor may use a Thumper massager to relax your muscles prior to or after an adjustment. The percussive force may help to relieve muscle tension, improve circulation, and promote relaxation.

The chiropractor may also use trigger point therapy or active release technique to manage problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia, and nerves. Often when there are adhesions or scar tissue in the muscles due to damage over time, the muscles will become shorter and weaker leading to altered motion of the joints and muscles and nerves can become irritated. The goal of this soft tissue therapy is to restore the smooth movement of the tissues, and the function of any compressed nerves.

Graston Technique / Gua Sha

Graston or Guasha are forms of scraping the skin with a smooth-edged instrument, to promote healing, alleviate pain, and improve mobility. The technique works by applying controlled pressure to targeted areas, which helps increase blood flow, release muscle tension, and stimulate the body’s natural healing processes. The gentle scraping motion helps to break up muscle knots, improve lymphatic drainage, and reduce inflammation in affected areas. With chiropractic care, Gua Sha or Graston can be combined with spinal adjustments and other treatments to accelerate recovery, enhance circulation, and support overall wellness.

Acupuncture

This ancient therapy involves inserting very fine needles into specific points on the body to stimulate healing and reduce pain. Acupuncture is used to stimulate the natural healing of the body, and relieve pain. It is an effective therapy for both acute and chronic conditions, and may be combined with electrical stimulation for added benefit. Acupuncture complements chiropractic care by further enhancing pain relief and promoting relaxation.

shockwave.jpg

Shockwave

Our clinic uses the PiezoWave2 from Richard-Wolf. This is a non-invasive therapy that uses acoustic waves to stimulate tissue regeneration, reduce inflammation, and promote blood circulations in areas of acute or chronic pain. By targeting deep tissue layers, the shockwaves help break down scar tissue, improve flexibility and enhance tissue repair. Patients often experience significant pain reduction and improved mobility after just a few sessions. With its ability to promote faster healing and minimize reliance on medications or surgery, shockwave therapy is a valuable addition to chiropractic care, offering both short-term relief and long-term benefits for musculoskeletal health.

ultrasoundstim.jpg

Ultrasound

This modality is used to promote healing and reduce pain in soft tissue injuries. It works by emitting high-frequency sound waves that penetrate deep into tissues increasing blood flow and stimulating cellular repair processes. This non-invasive treatment is especially beneficial for managing conditions like muscle strains, ligament sprains, tendonitis, and joint stiffness. The gentle heat generated by ultrasound helps to relax muscles, decrease inflammation, and improve flexibility, making it a complementary treatment to spinal adjustments and other chiropractic treatments. With minimal side effects, ultrasound therapy offers a safe, efficient way to accelerate recovery, alleviate pain, and enhance overall mobility for patients.

Electrical Stimulation

Electrical stimulation is used to treat pain, reduce muscle spasms, and promote healing. It works by applying low-voltage electrical currents to the skin, which stimulate sensory nerves and the muscles. This stimulation helps to block pain signals, improve circulation, and enhance muscle function. It is often used in managing chronic pain, muscle weakness, and post-surgical recovery. It helps to reduce inflammation and accelerate the healing of injured tissues.

traction.jpg

Traction and Flexion-Distraction

Traction involves applying a gentle, controlled pulling force to stretch the spine and relieve pressure on the discs, nerves, and joints. Traction may be particularly beneficial for individuals suffering from conditions like herniated discs, sciatica, degenerative disc disease, and spinal stenosis. By decompressing the spine, traction helps to reduce nerve compression, alleviate pain, improve circulation, and restore proper alignment.

Schroth Technique for Scoliosis

The Schroth Technique is a specialized exercise-based approach used in cases of patients with scoliosis. This method focuses on specific movements based on the individual patient’s curve to improve posture, spinal alignment, and muscle strength. It aims to reduce the curvature of the spine through targeted exercises that emphasize the correction of spinal asymmetries and promote more balanced muscle activation around the spine. By teaching patients how to activate specific muscles and hold positions that counteract the scoliotic curve, the technique helps reduce pain, improve spinal flexibility, and prevent the progression of the condition. Additionally, the Schroth Technique empowers patients with tools for self-management, making it a long-term, non-invasive solution that complements other chiropractic treatments. It supports overall spinal health and function, allowing individuals with scoliosis to maintain a higher quality of life.

Rehabilitative Exercises

Rehabilitative exercises are an essential part of the recovery process for patients dealing with musculoskeletal issues, including back pain, joint injuries, and postural imbalances. These exercises are specifically designed to strengthen weak muscles, improve flexibility, and restore proper movement patterns to support spinal health and overall function. By targeting the root causes of discomfort and dysfunction (such as muscle imbalances, poor postures, restricted joints), rehabilitative exercises help patients regain strength and stability. When integrated with chiropractic care, these exercises complement spinal adjustment, aiding in the healing and stabilization process, and enhancing long-term results. Patients benefit from improved posture, increased range of motion, reduced pain, and a lower risk of future injuries. The personalized nature of these exercise programs also empowers patients, giving them the tools to take an active role in their recovery and maintain a healthier, more functional body.

Pre, Ante, and Post Pregnancy Care

Chiropractic care offers a wide range of benefits for prenatal, antenatal, and postnatal patients by supporting the body through the physical changes of pregnancy and postpartum recovery. At Align we have specialized pillows for treatment during and after pregnancy for your comfort. During pregnancy, chiropractic adjustments can help alleviate common discomforts like lower back pain, pelvic pain, and sciatica by improving spinal alignment, reducing pressure on nerves, and promoting proper posture.

For antenatal patients, chiropractic care helps to optimize the alignment of the pelvis, which may contribute to a smoother labour process. Adjustments may also be used to release the tension, and regain balance in the ligaments pulling on the uterus as well as the surrounding muscles.

After childbirth, chiropractic treatments aid in restoring pelvic alignment, addressing postural shifts during pregnancy, and alleviating neck and back pain that often results from breastfeeding or carrying the baby.  Additionally, chiropractic care can improve overall body function, support pelvic floor health, and enhance recovery, allowing new mothers to feel more comfortable and balanced as they transition into motherhood.

By promoting optimal nervous system function, chiropractic care also helps improve energy levels and support emotional well-being, making it an invaluable part of the prenatal and postnatal journey.

Webster Technique

The Webster Technique is a protocol of chiropractic adjustments used to help pregnant patients. This method works by balancing the pelvis and optimize the alignment of the sacrum and lumbar spine to reduce    tension in the pelvic ligaments, which may in turn, improve the position of the baby by creating more space for the baby to move. By reducing pelvic misalignments and improving the mother’s pelvic mobility, the Webster Technique can also alleviate discomfort from conditions such as sciatica, back pain, and pubic symphysis dysfunction. Many women report overall improved comfort and a smoother delivery experience after this technique is used under the care of a trained chiropractor.

Infant and Child Care

Chiropractic care for infants and children focuses on supporting the development of a healthy nervous system and improving overall well-being. For pediatric patients, chiropractors use gentle, non-invasive techniques tailored to the child’s age and size to restore proper spinal alignment and optimize muscle function and balance. The parents and caregivers of these pediatric patients report positive results, such as reduced symptoms of common childhood conditions, improved posture and behaviour, and increased comfort for their little ones. Chiropractic care is safe for infants and children when done by a trained chiropractor, and it is a supportive complement to conventional healthcare.

Frequently Asked Questions

1 / How should I prepare for my first visit?
  • Wear Comfortable Clothing: Since you may need to move around during the examination or adjustment, wear loose, comfortable clothing that allows for easy mobility.

  • Be Prepared to Discuss Your Symptoms: Be ready to describe your pain or discomfort in as much detail as possible such as when it started, how it feels, and whether any specific activities or positions make it better or worse.

  • Bring Any Imaging That You Have Taken: If you have had MRI or X-rays, etc taken already, please bring them to show your chiropractor.

  • Ask Questions: If you have any concerns or are unsure about any aspect of the treatment, don’t hesitate to ask your chiropractor to explain things further. Your chiropractor will take the time to address your questions and ensure you’re comfortable with the treatment plan.

2 / Is chiropractic care right for my problem?

Chiropractic care may be an excellent treatment option for many conditions (please refer to the Common Cases section). However, there are situations where it is not appropriate at that time or for that condition. Chiropractic care may not be recommended, especially for individuals with specific health issues like fractures, or certain spinal cord conditions. Always discuss your health history with your chiropractor, and they will help determine if chiropractic care is right for you.

3 / How many visits will I need to get better?
  • The number of visits required will depend on your condition, its severity, and how well you respond to treatment. Please keep in mind that healing is not linear and there may be ups and downs in the recovery. In general this is the pathway to healing:

  • Relief Care and Correction Phase: For new injuries or acute pain, or for chronic pain, your chiropractor may recommend more frequent visits (e.g. 2-3 times per week) to relieve symptoms and start the healing process. At this time, there may be some better days and some worse days of your symptoms after the treatment as the body is getting used to the required alignment.

  • Recovering and Stabilization Phase: At this point, the pain will be less or gone, mobility and flexibility will be improved, and the adjustments are starting to hold. Your chiropractor may recommend certain exercises to strengthen your muscles to stabilize the relevant structures of your body. Visits will begin to be less frequent (e.g. 1 time per 1-2 weeks)

  • Maintenance Care Phase: Once your pain or condition improves, your chiropractor will recommend a decreasing frequency of visits for the period of time that your body can hold the adjustments. After that, many patients choose to continue with maintenance visits on a less frequent basis (e.g., monthly, quarterly) to maintain their well-being and prevent future issues.

4 / Are chiropractic adjustments safe?
  • Chiropractic care is considered safe when performed by a trained and licensed professional. The risks associated with chiropractic adjustments are minimal, but, as with any medical treatment, there may be potential side effects. These can include temporary soreness, headaches, or fatigue. Serious complications are extremely rare but may occur. These are all stated in our consent form when you attend our clinic. It is particularly important that if the patient has any underlying health conditions that these are communicated to the chiropractor.

  • Before beginning treatment, your chiropractor will conduct a thorough evaluation to ensure that chiropractic adjustments are appropriate for your health condition. If you have any concerns, don’t hesitate to ask questions or request a second opinion.

5 / How can I make an appointment?
  • You may call the clinic directly at 2668-1115.

  • You may contact our WhatsApp at 9593-9039.

  • You may use our online booking system through this website.

  • You may send us an email at contact@alignspinehk.com

6 / Can I use my insurance to pay?

As there are many different types of insurance and insurance companies, we would suggest that you contact your insurance agent before you visit so that you will be clear on the procedures required to make an insurance claim.

7/ How long are the treatment sessions?
  • The initial consultation will be approximately 40 minutes including treatment.

  • Subsequent treatments are usually approximately 20 minutes.

  • The length of the treatment will depend on the individual circumstances of the patient.

8/ Can I come for treatment if I am pregnant?
  • Absolutely! We have specialized pillows that we use for pregnant patients. We see pregnant patients from 0 weeks up to the birth and afterwards.

9/ Can I bring my newborn baby for a check?
  • Yes! Chiropractic treatment is beneficial for babies and children. We use safe, gentle techniques for your little ones.
